Educational Objectives
The primary aim of the Plant Protection Undergraduate Program is to train qualified professionals who possess scientific and practical knowledge in the fields of plant diseases, plant pests, and weeds; and who adopt environmentally friendly and sustainable production principles. In this direction, our program embraces the following educational objectives:
1. Training Competent Experts in the Core Components of the Field
To ensure that students become competent professionals who have full command of the theoretical and practical aspects of entomology, phytopathology, and herbology; who can accurately diagnose plant pathogens, pest species, and weeds; and who are capable of planning appropriate control strategies.
2. Promoting Integrated and Sustainable Pest Management Approaches
To equip graduates with the ability to apply Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles in agricultural production; to use chemical control responsibly with consideration for environmental and human health; and to effectively integrate biological, biotechnical, cultural, and mechanical control methods.
3. Developing Individuals Open to Scientific Research and Innovative Technologies
To enable students to adapt to scientific advancements ranging from classical biological control to modern molecular techniques (DNA-based diagnostic tools, RNAi applications, etc.); to conduct research; and to successfully pursue advanced graduate programs when desired.
4. Instilling Environmental and Social Awareness in Agricultural Production Processes
To ensure that graduates adopt environmentally compatible agricultural practices, prioritize sustainable production, protect ecosystem health, and uphold ethical values with a strong sense of social responsibility.
5. Preparing Graduates for Competent Roles in Public Institutions, Private Sector, and Research Organizations
To support students in gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to take effective roles in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, research institutes, agricultural enterprises, private plant protection companies, and consultancy organizations.
